I too believe its a fake. They called me last November and said its for Pratigya, a 2yr old child, who is gonna get operated in 2 days. They’ve collected 1.6Lakhs, and 2 is needed. When asked for details, they send me some scans of prescriptions from AIIMS. And they called back in 5 min, I was in such a mind and decided to donate. They asked me how much I am going to donate. When I said 500, they pleaded to pay atleast for one injection, which was 2039. They were pleading like that, and OMG, i paid them RS 2039/-. They collected my transaction ID, said thanks and cut the line. All these happened with in 10-12 minutes from the first call I recieved. After that only I checked them in Google and found this blog. (before that, while was on call, I verified the NGO links of India Govt and their own websites, like they said). Here I saw that they asked for money for the same child from March..

Last month, I got a call, requesting donations for another child.. I told them I lost belief in them, and If they are faking, they are not just looting money, but destroying peoples helping mind too.

Today also, I got a call, requesting for Master Mayank. I am sorry child (If you are real), I cant travel to New Delhi from south India, else I will give some directly to you..

Guys…i just received a call from 9211516308. A girl was asking me to donate for a boy suffering from lung cancer at AIIMS. I got doubt, how can a NGO will call people across the country for help of boy who is on operation table?? She told me they have certificate from shri Harshwardhan, now health minister of India, who has certified their NGO. I googled http://WWW.Agow. org and found that its scam…thank you people for saving my money from these scamsters.

I first started getting calls from Relief India Trust about 2 yrs ago, different names and numbers, they called me inspite of DND. They said they are a bunch of students trying to help. They called frequently having similar stories (samll poor kid, parents cant afford treatment, AIIMS, tumor, cancer, heart disease, needs immediate operation). They gave me proff of letter from AIIMS, doctor and case number, NGO registrations etc. I researched on the internet and saw a lot of complains against the company. I even came across a post claiming to be an ex-employee of this so called NGO. He said actually its a call center for approx. 200 employees who try to con ppl. They even have a set up of about 7 to 10 children (in a speech therapy center), serving as a front for this fraud. I still keep getting calls, from different names, different organizations (they keep changing the name of the NGO) but the story remains the same with minor variations (name od the kid, disease). Do not fall for these calls.

Got a call today from RIT. A guy called Piyush called from no 9716478249.

Asked me to donate 10500 for a child named PRIYANSHI admitted in AIIMS and is on ventillator. Call me at 3pm that money is needed by 5.30pm. The money is fir 2 ‘injections’. “URGENT. she’s battling with life.”

Then their team lead called from 8744053820. I can see the same series of numbers in above comments .

Think this is a scam. Won’t donate.

Even i landed in the similar situation. I don’t remember the person’ name who called me, but he pestered me to donate money. When i stopped answering his call, he called from another number. When i answered that call, he started altogether again. I told him i would donate about thousand rupees. Initially, he was ok with it. Later, he told me please donate another 1520/- for the medicine. I googled about the ngo before i donate and here i landed. Thanks vishnu for the blog.

Thanks for this blog to let me take decision not to lose any money…. I got the call from the number 7835053294 (Volunteer: Soniya). Their way of speech looks very much like faking only. They don’t understand our Month End Economic conditions and all. Their main motto/intention is to gain some money from a person. Feel very bad of this kind of People who suppress the people from helping to the really needy patients.

Yesterday i got a call from one of this fraud team. She told her name is soniya. I checked everything about te website and found it is a fraud agency. She sent many messages also for the donation. Today again i got a call from a guy called rohit. I blocked both the numbers. Can’t we stop this guys. Im sure atleast few will donate without checking about the organization. Is there any way to end this scam.

I received several calls by now from care for life trust. The volunteers seem very doubtful. They said there is a girl by name Parul whom they want to help immediatley and it is urgent. They even asked me to check their website which has a letter from AIIMS to support the girl (Parul). I checked the letter and found that the letter itself was fraud. The phone numbers mentioned was wrong (It was not from AIIMS!). The spelling of Telephone was “telephne” (im sure AIIMS will not make such silly mistakes). i called up AIIMS on their actual phone number and they said they dont have any such reference number that is mentioned on the letter. i will stay away from this charity.

I just donated 2190 to these guys. Let me tell you, I don’t know if I have been cheated as I have no information on how they are using the funds. But the way the fund was extracted was extremely CHEAP.

Now that i have read the blog, some of the cheap ways they use to emotionally blackmail:

1. We lost a child couple of days back
2. I dedicate my time with the NGO to help the kids in the hospital (was definitely calling from a BPO and probably getting a fat commission)
3. Urgent operation in the next 2 hours
3. GOD will bless you for your help
3. When you proceed for payment, they literally beg for you to pay more. When i agreed to pay 2K, they begged me to pay 5K. When i refused, the begged me to pay Rs 2190, citing some injection cost
4. Sometimes, they forget if the patient has cancer or a hole in the heart and mix it up.

Again, I have to mention that If “all” the proceeds are actually going to needy children, I actually don’t mind their pushy behavior and even their unethical means of collecting funds as it is for a good cause. But if they are not using the funds as intended, i am sure the same GOD that they are using will definitely punish them. I’d rather be robbed by a thug and i’ll not feel that bad in that case.
