Last week: switching back to Cursor AI, Alapuzha Gymkhana, Path to Transcendence & the Japan visa.
For folks not in the know, this is a weekly stream of consciousness zero-agenda “here’s what’s happening” or “here’s what’s interesting” post.
What’s been happening
- I switched back to Cursor after a couple of folks at work walked me through how much better the AI is compared to Zed. I still don’t like how laggy it feels at times, but the Cursor AI & tab completion is leagues ahead. Also picked a new color theme (minimal) for this week.

- Missed updating weekly notes last week because I ended up watching movies all day with Ammukutty. Alapuzha Gymkhana was a pretty decent boxing movie all things said, but as usual with Malayalam movies, it breaks the stereotype of the hero boxer, and puts the focus on his friends instead.

- I’ve been reading & enjoying Path to Transcendence on Royal Road. It’s much of the usual fare, but the worldbuilding is nice, and the magic system is clearly inspired by the Path of Ascension, which is also good!

- Got the visa for Japan a couple of days back. The documentation was pretty similar to a Schengen visa, but got it much quicker, and there was no physical fingerprinting visit, so overall it’s still cumbersome, but very much doable. As usual, I used the StampMyVisa folks & I can recommend em for all your visa needs: the number of times I had to go back because I missed a document or took a matte photo instead of a glossy one is just crazy. We’re leaving this Thursday night, and will be back by the 7th.
- Chronicle just launched a brand spanking new video this week, in addition to being the top product of the week at Product Hunt. We’re working on some pretty cool updates as well, and things are looking up!
Links of the Week
- Loved this article about keeping writing weird in the age of AI. I’m more okay with lots of folks using Grammarly and the like, but do develop your own voice.
- So it looks like macOS 26 will finally get native Docker support. Finally!
- Trying out this FZF Picker extension on VSCode in the hopes that it’ll help me use my mouse less. Searching through code and jumping to files still feels clunky!
