Relief India Trust is a Scam NGO, Do not Donate!

So I recently got a bunch of calls from an NGO calling itself Relief India Trust. The calls themselves were a bit odd and over zealous with the volunteers flinging themselves at me and describing the plight of children in gory detail, but it was the frequency of the calls that first gave me a clue that something wasn’t right. Then, when I finally decide to put in some money, there’s a volunteer who calls me up, takes me through the donation process and then offers to stay on line until I give her a Transaction ID for the bank transfer.

I did up a Google search and found tons of consumer complaints about the organisation. And if you notice their NGO registration number in the link above, it’s just a plain four digit number: 3696. The Indian Government has an NGO search site where you can search for voluntary organisations by name or their unique registration ID. 3696 doesn’t turn up Relief India Trust. Neither does a search for their name. These are a bunch of scam artists.

Real NGOs probably needn’t be this aggressive. I donate every year to SOS Children’s Village India, which has been my charity of choice since forever. They have a unique take on bringing up disadvantaged children, a personal dialogue (if you wish it) between your kid and you, and I’ve visited their centre in Kerala too.

    Thank you so much for creating this page. I also got a similar call. Must say their website looks very genuine. This girl was pleading me to donate for the operation of a cancer patient Pratigya.
    For some reason I was very curious that if someone really needed help they would call random people. How would they even get my number…..

    Thanks for the blog. I got call from 9211999064 named Vikram asking me to donate the amount for cancer patient “Pratigya”. I just browsed while I was on call before initiating the transfer. It created some suspicion so told caller straight that I will do my fact findings and then do transfer. Later, I got SMSes from Vikram and Jayant pursuing me to donate for the needy child. My suspicion is confirmed.. IT’S A SCAM TRYING TO CAPITALIZE ON EMOTIONS OF GOOD PEOPLE AND MAKE MONEY FRAUDULENTLY!!

    hello friends i also got a call from the number 9210701181 naina she said ask for amount 55k for the treatment for blood cancer for the girl named Pratigya she state that that the girl is admitted in AIIM for treatment .i deposited 8K next day and today i found that there is no girl in the name admitted in AIIM ..so now i am going to file a case again them to police station and also planned to move this issues to PM cell ..i will update with the FIR ..if any one got affect you may also contact me jsuhand@gmail.com and i shall help you to file an complaint so that we can save our india from these culprits..

    yeah they are Scamist.. one day i got call from them about donation. i went to their facebook page. one person had written on wall. who had already donated and when he asked for 80G receipt, they gave excuses that they can not give receipt.. so he yelled on FB page. then next day i opened that page, that post was removed. if they were right, they should defend there.

    I got the below email from RIT some days back with proper details for account numbers of Union Bank, Punjab National Bank and IDBI bank for online transfer. Was planning to donate, now contemplating after reading the above reviews. Sharing with all of you 🙁

    · She requires Injection Liposonial Ampho – B / 50mg x 2/ BD (Twice a day).

    · One injection cost is Rs. 6000/- approx. So every day2 injection required. So Rs.12, 000/- per day and Rs 1, 80,000/- for 15 days

    Yes I am 100% sure that this is a scam,I had got a call from 9289227645 stating help for baby Sahiba, when I asked how they got my number the reply was “They had got it from a blood donation camp”. NOW THE FACT IS THE NUMBER I HAD GOT A CALL WAS ON MY OFFICIAL NUMBER WHICH WAS NEVER DISCLOSED ANYWHERE EXCEPT MY VENDORS AND CLIENTS, DEFINITELY NOT FOR ANY BLOOD DONATION CAMPS.” Those of you supporting this NGO kindly comment……

    Please spend some time to go through the attachment and the entire mail to have a fair understanding about the case and the condition of the patient, your generous contribution can make a child see the world.
    • Rahul is a 10 years old male child. His father’s name is Jagmohan Singh. Their address is Village- Jalalgarh, Dist-Purnia, Bihar
    • Rahul was shown in AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) and his consultant doctor is Dr.B.D.Singh

    • He is suffering from disease Hole in Heart and is under treatment with Cardiology Dept. at AIIMS and requires ASD Closure

    When I searched the wesite I noticed above comments…Thanks for posting and exposing such cheating NGOs.

Then i got the sms from trust to visit http://www.projectrit.org.Before sending money , just i searched this website and found it’s real face of this trust.just escape.

    I must thank all those who have taken pains to write here. I am also getting phone calls from girls and boys with mobile nos9250409277/ 9266638936 for last couple of days. They ask me to donate for a child in AIIMS fighting for his life due to a hole in heart. Being a donor to World Vision for several years, I was about to make a decision but as soon as I logged on the url sent by them, I am convinced that they were fake.
    Beware everyone.

      yaah i alszo got a call from 9250409275 @17:51 hrs explaining that a little girl in Hospital Operation Theatre needs money….!!!
      They told me the web add… but fortunately or unfortunately the BBank link was down at that very moment n i could not get inside….. m not sure but i think its a fraud call……

    Call From a lady @RIT. Demand to help a girl child (Name Sahiba) saying that she needs 2 injection (6000 per injection) daily basis for survival. Her father cannot afford these much money so Relief India trust is helping her to recover.
    In short she want some money from donation. She gave every detail of that girl child and request me to visit http://www.projectrit.org to check about that girl and Donate by clicking Donate Link given there on a home page of that site.

    I make up my mind to donate some amount (less than 1000) while I was in conversation with her as She has convinced me a bit.

    But during last phase of Call and its my right to know that Is my money going into right hands or not, I asked few Questions.
    The first question from where u got my number.
    Second question. Where is she Admitted?
    She replied: she has been admitted in Kalawati Saran Hospital, Delhi for three months in Unit 2 and Ward number 3.

    Then after this conversation with her.
    I searched website of Kalawati Hospital
    I tried to search a cotanct number of a person who can give information regarding this Girl.
    I want to know genuineness of this case that is she really admitted there or not.
    Is she really need financial help or not?

    When I call a person from Hospital he provided me with a number of Responsible person handling the case.
    When I called him and asked about the girl. He Replied me that, Girl named Sahiba is Admitted there.
    But Surprisingly When I asked about does she really need financial help. That Guy (I Think Doctor) replied that this hospital is providing treatment and medicines ABSOLUTELY FREE.
    Really suprising isnt it?

    So Conclusion : Relief India Trust are absolutely Fraudsters . Dont donate any one without cross checking. Humans are emotional by nature and ppl like these getting benefits out of us.

    I got a call twice today asking for donation to treat a 10 year old boy named Rahul. Since it was my son’s 10th birthday I decided to donate and just before doing it I searched on the net and found your blog. Thanks for enlightening. I fill find another organization to donate it.

    These people chased me agressively and I was compelled to donate rs 2000/ – yesterday.again they called me up for funds today.i grew suspicious.one of the guy is Prsmod Kumar as per his no registered 9911883399 and they another similar nos registered.

    I would like to lodge police complaint against these guys.

    I received 2 calls to donate for patient sahib admitted in Kalawati saran hospital and requiring injections worth Rs 12000/- daily. The volunteer (mobile no. 09219029500) did not know the name of treating doctor. When I offered him to shift the patient to a medical college in meerut where i could have got her treated free, he refused though pt is from muzzafarnagar which is nearer to meerut.

      From few days I too got the call from Relief India Trust for Sahiba and person asked me donate right away. This seems something weird to me so I pushed my self to avoid it at that moment. Later when I discussed with my colleagues then they also suggested there might be fake calls in the name of NGO. But call keep me restless and when I decided to donate some amount (around Rs 2000) then i just googled “is relief india trust genuine” which directs me to this page. And after reading lots of feedback which confirms that this is fake NGO which do not have any registration.
      But point is here how they is these cases are really true? Might be through some links they got this documents from AIIMS and scanned it. Then uploaded on portal, to appear it as real NGO who helps to poor families. Case might be true but NGO not !
      So it is always better to serve/donate which is trustworthy.

    Thanks Vishnu for the details, I have also been getting calls from various numbers for past one week and volunteers mentioning that they belong to Relief India Trust and baby Swastik needs urgent money for the operation. I was about to make the donation when I just happened to google RIT and found so many complaints and stumbled upon this blog as well. I am going to refrain myself from making any donations to RIT as it looks fraudulent and would urge everybody to take informed decisions before making any donations to RIT. There are other established NGOs which are genuine and are in need of our donations than this bunch of scamsters who are trying to just siphon off people’s hard earned money.

    Please be careful and make informed decisions.

    I got similar aggressive calls today for Swastik & also one sms giving website address: http://www.Projectrt.org. Thanks to Venugopal and others for sharing the information. From the aggressiveness of the calls, I thought it to be fraudulant organisation and googled to find things here. Thanks again.

      Thanks Vishnu for the information….I hav received a call from a girl having no. 9289227594 N asking for help….I surprised coz repeteadly she calld me in a interval of 1 hr by saying that Uncle, are u on line, r u free now, etc. etc. Nyway, i didn’t donate any money to this frauds…Thanks again

    we usually see this in public transport , fraud men holding hospital documents and asking money from people. And now in websites!misuse of technology.
    So,computer literacy and knowledge about cyber crime is mandatory for every Indian. No hope for justice and investigations.

    I just got a call from a male asking for help for Swastk, 5 mth old blue baby with a hole in the heart. Since i was in the middle of a conference call, i could’ nt talk much, just that he mentioned the website where i get to read this chain of blog messages. Sorry this looks like a doubtful charity and will not indulge.

    today i got call from delhi defing him self as Delhi university student adn working on project of lif save, asking me to come online at their website reliefindia trust. and ask for donation for Swastik Baby boy of 5 month old. need very urgent help for heart surgery…saying all doctors certificates can be checked at websites. he is in very hurry to get money….saying plz trf imidiate as tomorrow we have to deposit whole amount at Hospital AIMS. and no more time available with us to wait….so plz do right now….

    These type of people creates doubt and they barred the real needy people to get help……

    After going through all the above comments I am having serious doubts on their intentions. Though just one hour back I have donated Rs.509/- required for some injection for a patient, I thought it to check out on website about this trust. You all may be quite right that they an absolute fraudsters.

    I’m from Mumbai & I got a call from +919266673647 for a baby’s heart surgery donation that her grandpa couldn’t afford. Although the effort itself sounds noble, the lady who called identified herself as a part of an organization called RIT. I told her it wasn’t right calling random people during work hours and approach NGOs like Being Human or Tata for financial help instead. I asked her to remove my number from her database upon which she said she got my number from an advertisement on olx.in. I was surprised that they do not have a donor database or pick up numbers from health forums which yielded potential financial help. I searched for the operator which revealed DMTC. A quick google search for baby with a hole in his heart Delhi ngo got me here. Howcome the authorities aren’t doing anything about it?

    Hi.. I too got a call from a girl called Meenakshi from a mobile number +919289227577 and asking for a donation for a gilr child with a hole in the heart.. she told me that 40k is falling short and she is a student and all her friends are contacting people for help… After checking this, i gave her an sms stating that this is fraud and also warned her to stop all this otherwise she will also be in trouble.. she went on sending me sms requesting me to give her a chance to prove that this is not wrong.. But after seeing so many comments, I decided not to talk to her again…

I got a call from Rooby yesterday and she told me that one baby named SWASTIK who is to be urgently operated at AIIMS needs money and that i can check in the website about the details for authentication. I just asked her how she got my mobile number, for that she answered that they got it from a blood donation camp in kolkata, where i have never gone before. Just then something struck me that it may not be a genuine one. Then when i started to type relief india, got to come across various fraud statements and my hunch proved right. Still now getting so many calls from the same person which i have blocked now. This is the number they used : +91 9278365402, Website: http://www.projectrit.org.

    Thanks Vishnu. I too received continuous calls & SMS from RIT 9289227573 since yesterday, requesting me to make immediate payment for SWASTIK. Since I was travelling, I said I will do the bank transfer on Monday morning, as in any case it will get not get transferred to their account before Monday, still they were insisting to trafer right now and sent then the transection id immediately. In fact I made an arrangement to transfer immediately. By luck i saw your blog and then just checked the veracity in the Google and it helped.

    I got a call from some guy called Abhnesh, who later sent me 3 SMS. First he asked me if I am online and asked me to check http://www.projectrit.org. Then when I told him that I am not online, he kept sending me SMS’s. I was suspicious because the way the guy was talking about some girl, 6months old baby called swastika and that she has a hole in her heart. He told me that they are short of money for her open heart surgery. Thanks to your community I am not donating.
